Back in Black

Have I been a flaky writer or what? I'm back, though, and stronger than ever.

So I'm three weeks into school now, and I'm loving every minute of it. On the first night of class, my writing professor gave us a series of writing prompts. Every time she'd give us a topic to write about, my mind would go, "You're too old for this, Grandma. Do you see all these sweet, young honeys around you, writing up bits of brilliance? Their minds are fresher, stronger than yours. Go home old goat; it's not too late to drop-out."

I walked out of that night's class thinking, "Katy, you're not letting your mind go there. Remember your step class at the gym? You used to be the worst, but now you're second to worst (sorry, Kevin). This time, you're not giving up. You're going to crank it up AC*DC style, and you ain't never looking back."

I'm Back in Black, Chicas!

  2. Poor Kevin! Hahaha- you're hilarious. Anyway, I'm glad you posted. When I saw you the other Sunday I realized I didn't know what was going on with you. You better keep it up or else I'll have to break down and ASK you.

  6. Seriously... you are the last chica to be in the "old lady" category....

  7. You go girl! I finished school in my thirties and felt the same way, but it turned out to be a huge advantage. Trust me on this.

  8. I love you ladies more than eating a chocolate bar on fast Sunday.

If you want to know about Kevin (not his real name), he's an older gentleman with zilcho rhythm. I love that he tries so hard to do his mambos with flare, but I mostly love that I can do them better--in my opinion, and I'm not trying to brag.

  10. Katy, Katy, Katy...so I blog stalk you...did oyu know that. I think I found you from Kim. You are still the most beautiful, crazy, inspiring person I think I have ever met. I just read through some of your posts, so don't mind the random questions..do you remember listening to The Messiah at Ricks? I think 305 all went together? Do you remember making hair bows for homemaking night that same year? NUTS! Do you know I feel the same way about working on my Masters? I am doing it online while chasing two kids, the YW of our ward, teaching classes for our school district, working...you know all the things a mom does! We will be just fine and when we both have our Master's, we can say we did it together-sort of! I still love ya...miss you too. Wish I would have found you on your way through Utah!

  11. Leslie, You made my day! I do remember Messiah but not the hair bows. Were they a disaster, the hair bows? I love that you're going to school too. We'll get our degrees together, like old roommates in college:) Love your buns tons!
