Birthday Boy

Today is this boy's birthday and I told him, "You can do whatever you want on your special day." Whatever you want meant: taking Krispy Kreme to school, then getting out of school early and spending the rest of the day in a cave (or bedroom), building a ginormous Indiana Jones Lego set. He has also requested sausage pizza for dinner and a fudge bundt cake for dessert. (Can you believe it? The cake comes to haunt me, yet again.)

I'm making all of today's dreams come true; that's what moms do.

I know you won't be jealous of me when I have to pick up the 1,044 pieces to his new Lego set.

  1. That sounds like a great bday to me! I should do the same thing--let my kids do whatever they want. They'd LOVE that! Yet again, you're such a cool mom :)

  2. What a fun birthday. You are such a great mom!

Hey, I need to pick your brain...any good ideas for young women birthday gifts? What have you done? Also, christmas gifts?

  3. For birthdays, we give them a pad of paper with the letter of their first name on it. In opening exercises we give them the pad of paper along with a spotlight, which our secretary writes, with the help of parents, during the week prior to Sun.

For incoming Beehives, we give them a welcome kit with a PP book, temple recommend holder, For Strength of Youth booklet, picture of Christ, and a bunch of other helpful info.

When they graduate from Laurels, we give them a little pearl bracelet with a note attached, "You're a pearl of great price."

Last Christmas we gave them Nativity figurines we had purchased at Deseret Book (4 dollars for each set). During our annual Christmas lesson, we talked about each one. By the end of the lesson they had the entire set.

This Christmas we're making a video based on the Young Women's theme. I hope it turns out:)

  4. My 5 year old son loves Indiana Jones legos too... problem is, he is too young to build them. AND, even though I swore I hate legos and I would NEVER build a lego set... I painstakingly put together piece by piece and only cry a little when it falls apart in 2 seconds :(.
